Spinal discs are circular structures located between each vertebra to prevent spinal bones from grating against each other. They also function as a shock absorber while moving your back.
Each spinal disc has the inner nucleus as well as the outer annulus. When the annulus becomes weak, part of the nucleus bulges out into the spinal canal. This condition is called a herniated disc which affects any part of the spinal cord. As this bulge puts pressure on the surrounding nerve, you experience symptoms.
